I've been having such a great time hanging out with my friends and relaxing. I am so grateful that I've been able to hang out with my friends lately because Denny is so busy with work that I've been having to occupy my time without him. I miss hanging out with him, but I know he'll get adjusted soon.

I'm ready to go back to work. It was an early night though. That made me sad since it'll be tough to do first fridays once we go back to work.

I found this new website, hulu.com where you can watch old tv episodes. I've been watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia like crazy. It's my favorite show at the moment.

When Denny's phone broke, we had to go to the Verizon store to get him a new phone. They had all these posters up for tv on vcast. So of course, that's all I've been doing is seeing what shows they have and checking out all the old school videos on vh1. I think I'm actually ready to go back to work. All this free time is starting to drive me crazy!!!!

love/hate

i can't believe it's been a year since we left for Vegas. It seems like we were JUST trying to figure out how to get our asses out here. This whole experience has been completely amazing and I have been having the best time out here. Denny and I have grown closer and closer. The past is just getting farther and farther away. I think if we had stayed in MI, there would have been too many reminders of everything we went through. Plus the stress of dealing with family makes it difficult to focus on us.

Things I love about Vegas:

Our sweet, super cheap apartment
The great people we've met
Looking at the desert sky
Red Rock
My job
No snow!

Things that could be better:

The city is too small and claustrophobic
No ocean
No little cafes like LA
Shortage of affordable decent restaurants

The pros far outweigh the cons and I can see myself being happy here at least until I get my 5 years in with CCSD.

always be there :: face i live with :: always be there :: face i live with :: abscess memory with broken fingers :: all the fallen down angels :: raw pain distress :: it's all in the way we know that we could have it all :: some satellites of pain can't always be ignored :: war on all sides :: war on all sides :: drink life as it comes :: straight no chaser :: drink life as it comes :: straight no chaser :: climb inside you :: away from strangers :: building a system of alleys and motorways :: it's all in the way that we know we could have it all :: some satellites of pain can't always be ignored :: it's all in the face of what we thought we knew before :: war on all sides :: war on all sides :: keep on driving :: hair left morning wet :: there's nothing like losing you :: there's nothing like losing you :: there's nothing like losing you :: there's nothing like losing you

Oh America...

I'm not usually the type of person to follow trends. I really thought that all this recent "green" business was ridiculous. Of course, I make an effort to not pollute and I thought I made pretty responsible choices. I even bring my own bags to the grocery store. The rest of it all I just assumed was a flashy trend and I was not about to start using all-natural deoderant, slip on some birkenstocks and head to whole foods for over-priced groceries.

Then I read this book called "Not just a pretty face, the ugly side of the beauty industry". It was terrifying. The lack of standards for American products is crazy. And what blows my mind is that companies will throw all kinds of toxins into OUR products, and then make the same exact products for other countries without the toxins. All because other governements decided to stand up for people's health instead of big business. It's sad to think that a product can be sold to me, the company assures that it is safe, but using it can affect my children before they are even born. If I decide to have children, I want them to have every possible chance at a healthy life. I don't want toxins in my body that can cause them neurological problems, cancer, learning disabilities, etc.

I've been living on safecosmetics.org for the last few days, trying to find better products for my household. The book I read focuses on cosmetics, shampoos, soaps, and other personal items, but it has definitely opened my eyes to the variety of chemicals I use in my home every day. So, I guess I'm going to be slightly trendy because I don't feel like I have the option to ignorantly continue down the path I was on before reading this book.

Here we go...

Add this to my string of left-behind online journals and blogs. I figured I'd start fresh and try and keep it positive. I've seen how positive thinking can create positive changes (after years of thinking that was all bullshit) so here I am, recording my positive thoughts. I'm going to try and record the good things, even on those days that seem to go all wrong.

Denny and I are on week 2 of working out every day and eating better. We are both feeling stronger, more alert, and losing weight. Woo hoo!

I have some phone calls to make this week. I seem to have this irrational fear of talking to people on the phone and I always tell myself that next week will be better, or maybe they're busy, I won't bother them. Life is short and if I keep waiting for the right time to stay in touch with my friends, it may end up being too late. So I'm adding that to my list of recent self-improvements. I will conquer my fear of the phone!
